Lift Height 4/7

Lift Height

Lift height is one of the most important factors when choosing a forklift. This refers to the height at which the fork itself can be lifted to once the mast has been extended to the maximum reach.

There are a range of factors you need to properly consider when it comes to lift height including:

  • Storage point - Consider the highest storage point in your facility to ensure your chosen forklift will be able to reach it.
  • Clearance space - Calculate the clearance space in your premises to ensure the forklift can move around safely. Contact our team if you need assistance with this.
  • Mast type - There are several types of masts, single-stage, two-stage, three-stage and four-stage, each offering varying heights.

Why is lift height important?

If you choose a forklift that doesn’t meet the reach requirements of your premises, your daily operations will likely be hindered as a result. When loading to high places, you need to have a forklift that can reach the space with ease. This will save you time, money and the hassle of having to purchase multiple machines.

Remember, you should always balance height with stability when choosing a forklift. A higher lift capacity will require a counterweight adjustment to ensure it doesn’t tip over and, if you’re working in a space that has overhead obstructions (like beams or doors), you must check the forklift’s closed height (when the mast is fully lowered) and its lift height to ensure it is compatible.
