Lift Capacity7/7
Lift Capacity
Forklift capacity refers to the maximum weight that the forklift can safely lift. Capacities can differ significantly between models and this can be down to a wide range of factors. Usually, the lift capacity is outlined in the manufacturer’s instructions or as part of the vehicle’s data plate and the East Midlands Forklift team can advise.
Why is lift capacity important?
Choosing the right lift capacity is important for a wide range of reasons including:
- To make sure the forklift can hold the typical size and weight of loads you’re moving
- To ensure the forklift can sustain the variability of loads
- To maintain forklift stability
- To maintain health and safety standards
What applications are they suited for?
When choosing a forklift, you should consider the type of application the lift capacity is suited for. Some considerations to bear in mind include:
- If your forklift is going to be in daily use, a new model may be preferable
- Older models are more likely to burn out more quickly
- Newer models are likely to perform better from the beginning
- Used models are better for occasional use, whereas newer ones should be used for regular work
- Older machines could have a lower lift capacity/li>
